THE STORY OF REV

Seri (REV founder) and Vici Revzen (1949-2022) for whom REV was named. Her legacy lives on in this company. Her deep love for family and support for this company gives us a reason to celebrate every day.

My deepest memories as a child are from my family dinners. Every Friday night, my Grandmothers (aka Boobie and Bubbie) would host “Friday night dinner”. Each week we would rotate houses.  One week would be at Boobie Frieda’s and one week would be at Bubbie Nelly’s. But each week…it was the same shtick: Tons of food, all of our family and endless fun. Each week, we had to be dragged out of there by our feet. I believe, these family dinners, were the foundation to the bond that I have formed with my family members. When you form a love so deep for your family, you always want to host them and this was something I understood so clearly as I got older and became mature enough to host just like my grandmothers did.

For me, my true love for hosting started in High School. One weekend, my friend Jori’s parents were going out of town. Jori and I planned a “Beverly Hills 90210” themed party at her house. We planned out every single detail:  We assigned a character to each guest (and you had to come dressed up and in role as your character), we worked with Jori’s siblings to get us beverages, we decorated her kitchen and we set out a spread that was unusually thoughtful for a couple of 15 year olds. It was a night I’ll never forget. EVERYONE came in character, EVERYONE had the best night of their lives. All throughout highschool and college, I continued to party. There were nights I would look up at G-d and say: Please, make this slow down. It’s so much fun…I don’t want it to end.

This continued to ring true all through my 20s, 30s and now my 40s.

When I got engaged, I couldn't have been more excited to plan my wedding. Most everyone I knew was terrified by the wedding planning process.  Not me.  I ran to Barnes and Noble and bought a wedding planner and I filled out every single page. I loved every moment and like all parties leading up to it…my wedding was a blast. At that moment, seeing I could pull off a wedding with ease and enjoyment, I knew, I was meant to party for a living.

A few years later, I left the corporate world of fashion that I had been working in for 10 years and I started my own party planning company.

At the time, I asked my Mom: “What do you think I should name the business?”

She said:  “Little Miss Party.”

Her reason? I’m little..and I love to party. She was spot on.

The company took off quicker than I ever expected especially for a team who had no actual experience in the industry. We learned everything from the ground up. Starting as caterers, which we had no business doing. Quickly taking on weddings, which we were so flipping good at but did not have any interest in doing, finally learning that designing and styling the parties is where our true skill set lay and was where we could shine.

For 10 years, we partied, we met the most amazing clients, we built ourselves a pretty solid reputation. Then came the pandemic. Boy was that ever a kick in the sequin shorts. When the pandemic first started, we did a really great job of taking our business and turning it into a “party in place, party at home” concept. We have an online shop of party supplies that we curated into party boxes for every celebration: birthdays, showers, graduations, social distance gatherings in your backyard, you name it…we had a box for it.

As covid dragged on, I had more time to think about the business and all I had learned over the years of being a small, female owned and run business. I wanted to take the business in a direction where we were hired for our work only and that was by bringing the party to life with the most beautiful and unique decor. Being creative is my passion and when we came out of the covid fog, that’s where I wanted to focus my attention.

Earlier this year, we got a handle on covid, but my mother and my grandmother, passed away within weeks of each other. It was a hard and challenging few months. They will each be in my heart and my memory for eternity and as the most special honor to my mother, the name behind our new company is derived from her married name:  REVZEN. I couldn’t be more proud to introduce to you, my latest venture:  REV New York.

REV New York will focus on creating a memorable event through thoughtful decor elements that are interesting, gorgeous and celebratory. Although we offer our services in NYC, the Hamptons, New Jersey, Florida, Toronto, and beyond… New York City will always be the home where my party heart is based.

I cannot wait to bring you along on this journey with me and the talented, amazing women that I get to work with. Let’s get this party started…
